Nicole Caron, a professional ballerina with the Alberta Ballet, was born in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and grew up in Vancouver, B.C., but, now in her 12th season with the Alberta Ballet, calls Calgary home.  She received her ballet training at the Richmond Academy of Dance, the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, and the American Ballet Theatre, before beginning her career with the Alberta Ballet here in Calgary.  This past season alone, Nicole danced the principal role of She in Balletlujah!, Desdemona in Othello, and soloist roles in all 3 of the Great Masterpieces ballets.
While based in Calgary, Nicole has had the chance to tour with the Alberta Ballet on both a national and international level.  Some of her favourite roles include the title role in Carmen, Desdemona in Othello, Helena in A Midsummer’s Night Dream, the principal dancer in Balanchine’s RubiesSerenadeAllegro Brilliante, and Who Cares?, the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, and the pas de trois and lead swan in Swan Lake.  Over and above this busy schedule, she also finds time to teach ballet and yoga.
Nicole will be performing in the Alberta Ballet’s upcoming holiday production of The Nutcracker here in Calgary from December 19-24, be sure to check it out!
When I was little, I wanted to be: a ballerina (cliche, I know, but I made it!)
My favourite room in the house is: the kitchen/ living room (open concept) – I love to cook and entertain
My favourite restaurant in Calgary is: Anejo, amazing food and great vibe (also delicious margaritas, Coconut Chili is one of my favourites)
