Painted Lady

12Apr12

We recently started working on this great pre-war house in Elbow Park. While the house will retain all it’s character and charm from the exterior, inside will be a new house. Replacing all the windows, insulating the walls and ceilings and replacing the furnace and hot water heater are going to make this old house very energy efficient. We are also replacing the 100 year old beams with new structure and re working the floor plan to make sense for a modern family. I think this kind of development makes a lot of sense; it keeps a house out of the landfill, retains the urban character of a city, extends the life of the home for another 100 years, and is much more cost effective than a new built home on the same parcel.
